How should Zakat be distributed in Islam?<\/span><\/h1>\n

First of all, Zakat distribution is governed by the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). People <\/span>eligible to receive Zakat are indicated in Surah 9 (Attawbah) verse 60:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. The poor (al-fuqar\u00e2’), meaning low-income or indigent.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. The needy (al-mas\u00e2k\u00een), meaning someone who is in difficulty.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Zakat administrators.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Those whose hearts are to be reconciled, meaning new Muslims and friends of the Muslim community.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Those in bondage (slaves and captives.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. The debt-ridden.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. In the path of Allah

  8. The wayfarer, meaning those who are stranded or traveling with few resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
