On the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, and since we are in a country of multiple religions whose majority do not truly know the real Islam, we had taken the initiative of a project that introduces some of the Islamic teachings in general and specifically about the month of Ramadan, while shedding light on the ethics of Islam. The idea started with Mrs Ghina Haffar who suggested to hand out closed bags that included dates and prophetic Hadiths talking about ethics to people on the streets before Ramadan.<\/p>\n

Then the idea was upgraded when we noticed the turnout of people walking into Al Madinah Center during an event for the Arabic school students on the weekend, as they got interested to check out the event that was taking place. For this reason, we have put forth this activity during the month of Ramadan in order to give the opportunity to whoever is interested to get to know more about Islam.<\/p>\n

In addition to the bags of dates attached to the Hadiths, we decided to distribute a brochure that explains what is Ramadan, how to fast, as well as an invitation for non Muslims to try out a day of fasting and joining us on breaking the fast inside Al Madinah Center on a specific day, where there will be a group of volunteers who will be ready to answer their questions about Islam.<\/p>\n

All the preparations were done last week and this week we started the implementation: With the help of 10 volunteers, the dates and hadiths were bagged last Saturday. On Monday and right after Asr prayer, 12 volunteers from Al Madinah Center headed towards the most crowded locations in the downtown of Montreal to distribute the bags. With the help of God, around 600 bags of dates and brochures were distributed in less than 2 hours.<\/p>\n

Most of the people walking by were open towards the invitation and interested to read the brochure and to join us in the fasting and Iftar in the mosque next Saturday. In conclusion, we thank God Almighty on the facilitation of this work and ask him for his acceptance and for consistency. As we also thank all of the volunteers and whoever contributed in the organization and implementation of the project. \u00a0<\/p>\n
