The meaning of Fidya is an expiation or compensation donation, paid by individuals who cannot fulfill the obligation of fasting due to illness or old age. Fidya can be calculated as $10 for each day missed or $300 for 30 days of Ramadan per person. One can pay it all in one shot or can be paid daily for the missed days.
The cost is based on the average cost of a basic meal throughout Canada. Of course, if on average, you spend more per meal, it is permissible to adjust the price accordingly.
